⚗️ 1.3 – Investigate the Fundamental Units Involved in Derived Units
Let’s take a few derived units and break them down:
Velocity (m/s)
Derived from: metre (m) / second (s)
Acceleration (m/s²)
Derived from: (metre/second) / second = m/s²
Force (Newton, N)
Formula: F = ma (mass × acceleration)
So, unit = kg × m/s² = kg·m/s²
Energy (Joule, J)
Formula: Work = Force × Distance
Unit = (kg·m/s²) × m = kg·m²/s²
